It’s been a little over a year since I started Runda in WNC, posting features, itineraries, and sharing stories from my community field trips. I expanded my work into this blog in an attempt to organize my content (I still have some work to do) and to share poetry and other writing. I’m excited to announce a different kind of expansion! I’m partnering with Do You Even Live Here?, a podcast supported by Beacon Media and hosted by Preston Blakely, the Mayor of Fletcher, and Dalton George, the Mayor of Boone.
Dalton and Preston are two of the youngest mayors in North Carolina and their podcast centers small towns, communities, and belonging. They talk about their own lives in WNC, issues important to the community, and interview folks doing good work here. Sounds pretty familiar, right? Do You Even Live Here? comes out every week and you can find it on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. I hope you’ll give it a listen and subscribe.
So does that mean Runda’s a podcast host now? Nope! With Do You Even Live Here?‘s support, I’ll be able to host even more community field trips in even more counties in Western North Carolina. My October-December calendar is already posted here. I’ll also soon be the author of a Do You Even Live Here? newsletter that will pull together updates from the podcast, my field trips, and more right into your email inbox. I’ll let you know when you can sign up!
A partnership with other WNC locals who care deeply about their communities is a natural fit and I’m so excited to bring our two audiences together. More coming soon about the collaboration, but in the meantime:
